GoPro Hero5 Product Launch, Mallorca
I was invited to Mallorca by GoPro to product test their new Hero5 and Hero5 Session, as well as the hotly anticipated Karma drone. As you can see from the footage below, it's a pretty impressive camera, and a significant upgrade over the previous flagship model.
With touchscreen navigation and an amazingly responsive voice control, this is the highest performing and most impressive GoPro camera to date. The image quality is excellent - really, this gives my DSLR a run for its money - with a new HDR mode for dynamic shots and the ability to snap 12-megapixel RAW images.
And so, I product tested. I dived and bombed into pools, flipped of the side of a boat and recorded my journey on a Vespa around the island. All while holding my GoPro Hero5.
This is a steady, but rugged camera. It was knocked and battered and submerged in water (waterproof to 33ft (10m) without housing). The image quality, even under water, is outstanding and the video stabiliser means that you can edit together footage without having wavy or wobbly clips.
Bluetooth and Wi-Fi make it easy to stay connected to the GoPro app, including Splice, so it's easy to upload photos and video clips.
